Treatments that are a Treat: Botox in the Bands, A.K.A. the ‘Nefertiti Lift’

Standard

Nefertiti was arguably one of the most famous and beautiful women of the ancient world,  and perhaps one of the very first icons of beauty. One very notable feature is her elegant and long neck, which is complemented by a beautifully defined jawline.

The WHAT: Enter the present-day Nefertiti Lift technique, a contemporary treatment focused on relaxing the depressor action of the platysmal bands (the pulling-down on the neck) and other muscles to re-contour the jawline without surgery.

Dr Quenby Erickson injected BOTOX Cosmetic into the platysmal bands to recontour the neck and jawline without surgery.

The WHY: In short, the platysma basically spreads from the chest up the neck, and to the jaw.  When we age, (and due to genetics) the platysma separates into ropey bands, which can pull downward, exaggerating the jowls and creating the ‘turkey neck’ or ‘gobbler’ effect.

The HOW: During the Nefertiti Lift treatment, Botox Cosmetic is used to relax those bands, and sometimes the muscles that pull the corners of the mouth/chin down.  Dr. Quenby Erickson uses this advanced, non-invasive (and pretty much painless) technique to smooth and lift without surgery or downtime. The result is a beautiful and elegant jawline and smooth neck.  The results last up to 3-4 months, and usually take at least 20-25 units of Botox (increasing from there, depending on your individual needs).
